COOK RESERVE

Public BBQ

After four decades of municipal neglect, Cook Reserve has undergone the sort of transformation that makes you wonder what took them so long. The council has finally given this small park in Ruse a proper makeover, installing gleaming electric barbecues that actually work, decent seating with shade, and a playground that won't give parents nightmares. The new equipment includes slides, swings, a trampoline, and rope climbing apparatus that keeps the kids entertained while adults can pretend to exercise on the limited outdoor fitness gear. The automatic toilets are refreshingly clean, a minor miracle in suburban park standards. There's even proper landscaping, though you'll still find the occasional broken bottle lurking about, because some traditions die hard. It's transformed from a sad patch of grass into something families actually want to visit, proving that sometimes local councils do get things right, even if it takes them half a century to manage it.
